I'm getting near the end of the campaign. The story gets better. I agree with Dell about the back story. (LOL @ Bili.)
As is the case with all my favorite arpg's, the main character is pretty fragile and awkward at the beginning. By endgame, she's a WMD. Picture a short teenage girl with flaming red hair utterly humiliating giant t-rexes and birds of prey the size of a Boeing 727. Initially, her tribe has nothing but contempt for her. Eventually, they worship her in the literal, not figurative, sense. The whole thing makes her understandably uncomfortable.
I imagine they will be less enthusiastic when they see all the machine wreckage, dead bodies, and scorched landscapes she's left behind. Somebody is going to have to clean that up, and it's not going to be them.
