oh and period, definitely Modernism and Postmodernism.
Virginia Woolf's To the Lighthouse might be the singular best work I have read, if such a ranking was necessary to make. Mind, Ulysses has more, and Molly's aria at the end, giving her singular life's narrative after the cacophony of all possible life events unfolding around Leopold over the rest of the day also has to rate. Its all so good
