Subject: RE: book

The problem I have with most of these is they are so highly dependant on translation.

I lucked out on a Kafka translation that was really good but I dumped a lot of books between apartments back then and subsequent ones I sampled were less energetic and ...surreal?

I have read ulysses cover to cover a few times but I have a hard time actually liking it. Some of it works, and I like the Molly ending but most of it seems like a marvel sequel: lots of made up shit and "remember berries" i.e. callouts to random obscure shit. It works in visual modernism, but in Ulysses it is unintelligible.
