RE: Dibabro 4
I just hit the A key, but the alt-tab option is good to know about.
The new patch . . . sigh.
The good news is that they didn't nerf anything, which is unheard of. The idea of Blizzard passing up the opportunity to punish classes is inconceivable, and yet it happened.
The bad news is that basic skills still don't generate enough resource to be useful. Plus, the resource cap is still stupidly low. They've said in the past that they like this struggle for resource, and they want to keep it in place no matter what level the player attains. The big reason metas exist in D4 is to get around this stupid design, so right now the possibility of truly fun builds is effectively shut down. The patch buffs quite a lot of skills in addition to the basics -- some by a huge margin. But they've done nothing about resource starvation, which moves the game forward not an inch.
They're trying to incentivize people to do nightmare dungeons by making access and loot more attractive, so I guess that's good for later-game, but D4 remains a big open-world mmo where everything significant happens in dungeons unless you count helltide activities, which begs the question of why they needed a big mmo world in the first place. (The horse, btw, sucks giant portions of butt.)
I was trying to figure out why there's so little D4 engagement on youtube and other platforms. Compared to Elden Ring, D4 might as well never have come out. People have been playing it as a sort of obligation. They've been generous in their assessments of certain things, but you can tell that the anticipated media tsunami just isn't there. The reason is Blizzard's handling of resource. People cite other problems, but you could fix all of those and the resource management problem would still run players off.
This and the stupid monster level scaling will drive down the player numbers steadily until Blizzard realizes they need a massive revision -- something similar to the Reaper of Souls expansion for D3. I have judged. I have spoken.
