To be honest, I still think the original software rendered version looks the best. To run it in 3d accelerated mode you just need to get a Voodoo wrapper like dgVoodoo (I used version 2.51) or nGlide and unzip it in the I76 folder, then run i76.exe with the -glide switch.
For dgVoodoo, run the configuration utility, switch to the Glide tab and set it to run as a Voodoo 1 card, set it to 2mb of RAM and set memory size per TMU to 2048kb. The game's internal resolution and antialias can also be set here.
