So bowing at certain statues/shrines spawns animals: fish, frogs, butterflies.
I finished the game in Hard using only the broken armor (and charms) except in the couple cases where it forces you to use an armor set when you 1st get it. I like the combat but some of the Ult especially the opening challange one with 3 free kills are OP enough I started not using them unless I wanted to top off the tank. Thinking of trying insane mode, but I hear the difference between the mooks and the duels is not balanced.
I did melee nearly exclusively and found the hostage ones pretty easy if you know where the hostages are. One or two they are kind of close together, but the throwing knives stop the AI from attacking them and are easy to take quickly.
The Kojiro and the Eagle lady were probably the hardest duels.
