I never was able to master parries. I had the best luck with sword guys because their timing is pretty obvious. The others not so much. I had a pretty hard time getting wind and moon stances to work properly with high-tier shield and brute units. I never figured this out. I was doing the requisite moves correctly but staggers and even dodges simply failed to work about half the time. I think this is because the game was using some sort of half-ass lock on which I couldn't break, even though it's not supposed to be activated with mouse and keyboard, or if it is, I never found a way to turn it off. I even thought about buying a controller, but then I looked at the layout and realized that it was even crazier than the m/kb bindings.
