Sometimes with custom built PC's, I have run across machines where the motherboard is shorting itself out on the case and doing all kinds of intermittent weird stuff. Sometimes the mounting hardware leave alot to be desired.
Is it possible to remove the board from the case and power it up and see if you get some video?
Also, see if you can reset the cmos with the jumper on the board. Some boards wont release improper CPU settings unless you do that.
