It's actually more to stretch rather than do situps, which it's supposed to be really effective at. Also, there are about 84989548954 different inversion machines and have been around at least 30 years, but the teeter is about the only one that gets advertised, and hence why it costs more than just about all the others. If you search for customer reviews of various inversion machines, the satisfaction people say they get is more overwhelming than ANY other product review I have ever read. If it works for me, I'll let you know.
