the entire auto market revolves around gasoline engines because of the airplane industry. in where a high octane fuel was suitable for a low compression high rpm massivley air cooled engine whos sole purpose was to drive a 15Lb propeller REALLY fast something that requires no real torque or great transfer of drive energy. this was then adopted by the auto industry because at the time it was the only way to make cars go faster... into "smokin hot rods". it was a time where people didnt give a fuck about economy and wanted something speedy they would beat their wifes in AND not be late for the horse races. it was the only way people knew how to make cars faster back then. if anything gasoline is a needlessly complicated outdated shit technology that should have only be used in propeller powerd airplaines.
not only diesel engines are a million times more efficiant ONTOP of operating from a lower quality fuel, they last longer because diesel burns much cooler (because its packed with less enrgy and is also less volotile) but its COMPRESSION DETONATION leaves almost no carbon waste behind in its cylinders.
the hugest and most simplest way this whole nation can go greener is by everyone reverting back to the proper engine/fuel system thats far better suited for automobiles. if diesel is used more, its price will go down being that its the primary fuel everybody is now using and that, you know, its actually cheaper to produce than gasoline. this alone woud cut carbon emissions from motor vehicles by ATLEAST 40 percent nation wide. as an added bonus you get an array of alternative fuels you can burn and finally, diesel can be intergrated into our current fuel distrobution system of gas stations VERY quickly and easyly. nothing has to be changed.
but this is shit that should have been years ago. instead now, we have to wait another million years for hydrogen to pick up. whenever the fuck thats going to happen.
