It had alright graphics. Not as good as Unreal's.
It may have been one of the first games that made use of my RivaTNT (I don't remember if it had OpenGL support initially for Q2 or not).
As for B2, besides the 148943 train levels, and some other repeating maps, there were some pretty good ones if memory serves me correct.
