The thing is, DA does the companion thing much better than NWN2, KotOR, or any other similar game. The companions are actually interesting people and worth talking to. The dialogues are pretty good, too. It's a big improvement over rubbish like Jade Empire and Mass Effect.
For some reason, people hate Morrigan, one of the mage companions. They think she's evil and egotistical. She's actually very complex and appealing once you figure out that she's not really evil. She's pragmatic and innocent in her way. She sees people in terms of simple expediency. They're like arithmetic problems to her. But she's not devoid of empathy, which is a mistake people make in sizing up her character.
See? The game has me taking a voice actor and pixels seriously. BioWare did a good job this time.
