I forgot -- back when you're recruiting people for your party, consider hiring the mercenaries you see in the taverns. They're powerful and can help you get through Bandit and Sea Raider battles. As soon as your regular recruits get powerful enough, fire the mercenaries. As you'll find out, they're expensive.
