The whale should be taken to a sanctuary and turned loose, though he may not survive long outside captivity for 25 years. People should stop playing with large, dangerous animals.
In most cases, the animals don't intend to hurt the humans, but their idea of play can be fatal for people. A bear can playfully maul a man to death and never realize what he's done. Lions are more likely to do this. And then, of course, they maybe they're not always being playful. Maybe you do something accidentally to anger or frighten them -- animals don't count to ten so they can calm down and assess your intentions.
It doesn't matter how professional you are or how long you've worked with these animals; one day you're going to slip up. This is why I'm amazed at the idiots who take people out in a boat, give them scuba gear, and let them feed sharks. Sharks aren't even animals. I don't know what they are.
One day, people will get over this idea that they can be pals with wild animals. Just because you chum around with your dog, that doesn't mean you can frolic with a large predator. The breeding and evolution aren't there for you to do that.
Oh, and cities should shut down zoos and marine parks. Transport the animals to preserves and let people look at them from trains with windows that won't roll down.
