That's very strange. 7 is basically Vista SE. Vista is code version 6.0. 7 is 6.1. Microsoft wanted to keep the same number to prevent API compatibility issues. 7 is an improved Vista. There's no advantage in going with a non-improved Vista unless 7 does something to break their software. Actually, they should dump Windows and go with something like OpenBSD.
