RE: The media can be impressive at times
The reporters knew the risk they were taking just being in Iraq. Troops on the ground were under fire from a group of insurgents, called in air support, air support found a group of armed men in the vicinity of where they were told to look for the insurgents. One of which may have been armed with an RPG, and they had to make a decision, this could mean potential death for the helicopter crew should they make the wrong one. Every day in a war there is the near-guarantee that you will be in a situation where its going to come down to kill or be killed, and when its nearly impossible to be absolutely sure who is friend or foe without being killed first, chances are you're going to make a bad decision.
The helicopter crew made a wrong choice, the reporters were in the wrong place at the wrong time, its not like they're evil for killing them, its the situation they're in. Shit happens in war, its unavoidable until the enemy starts wearing big neon signs that say "BAD GUY" on them.
But I guess its really easy to pass judgment on people in a dangerous situation when you're 10,000 miles away from it, eh, muppet?
