you defeat the laguz fuck with the sonic sword and the whole battle ends. and there's nothing that tells you he is the victory condition. so defeating him first just throws out any possibility of gaining rare items such as a masterSeal from any of the other bosses.
usually they make it obvious on who or what the victory condition is but DAMN THAT FUCKING CHAPTER 19
