PS3 or a media center PC?
I've been wanting to stick some sort of "do everything" box under my TV for a little while now, so I narrowed it down to a PC and a PS3. I'm not sure yet which one I'm going to choose, but here are some important aspects of each:
PS3
Pros:
- Rip CDs to an internal HDD (has support for external USB HDDs, but I'm not sure if I can rip CDs to it)
- Blu-ray player
- Netflix
- Web browser
- Looks nice
- It plays games or something
Cons:
- I hear the web browser sucks
- I assume that some of the media I want will have to be manually transferred to the device or external HDD
-No upscaling for regular DVDs?
PC
Pros:
-Blu-ray (writable) drive
-Should be able to rip anything
-various full featured browsers
-netflix
-multi display support
-no need to transfer shit as all content can be obtained through the box
-Various OSes.. Already got a free legit Windows7 Pro license
-Can play games or something
Cons:
-Maybe more clunky to use? Maybe not.
-Not sure how well Netflix works
-Probably cost a bit mo' money than the PS3
-Blu-ray playback might not be as good as that of the PS3
The PC will obviously be more capable overall, but the PS3 isn't too far behind anyways. Any suggestions?
