i picture necro as being like my current roommates. all deaf from playing video games with headphones on way too loud. i listen to the tv at 25. one listens at 30, another at 33 and the last at 46. DEAF. I hear the second hand on the wall clock ticking during movies. Fans are awfully annoying, you dont want a loud pc if you go that route.

i would shy away from making it a super gaming pc. slow fans, and passive cooling where you can. quiet hard drives, or solid state if you can spend the extra cash. network storage is good so you can silently pull the files in. network storate + solid state would be great. passivly cooled video card if you can find one (not too hard if you drop super fast gaming). I dont think youre going to passivly cool your CPU. or if you have a place to tuck the pc so you cant hear it, thats just as good.
