RE: PS3 or a media center PC?
Here's an idea. Buy a Blu-ray player. They have this thing now where you can go into a store and rent movies, or there's this service called Netflix for movies and others for TV shows. For music, get an iPod or something. Then build a proper gaming PC. Put it in another room so the hurricane-level noise won't distract you. Forget the PS3. There's nothing worth playing on consoles, and if there is, they'll port it to the PC.
The reason I'm saying this is that I think the PC is about to make a comeback. Microsoft is up to something. I think they've figured out that they need to get back to serious support for PC gaming if they want to sell more copies of Windows. What that gets underway, you'll at least see better ports for the PC and maybe a resurgence of exclusives. You don't want to miss out on that.
Also, you need to be on Steam so I can watch what you're doing.
