RE: PS3 or a media center PC?
Major comprehension fail, Sim.
Yes, I can buy a stand alone blu-ray player. A bit under $100 for the shitty one.
MP3 player - already got one. But I travel with so much shit that I try to eliminate every spare ounce I can, so don't bother carrying it with me anymore. And only a faggot would need one for around the house - that's what home stereos are for. And I want to be able to rip my CDs to it because I'm sick of CDs getting scratched in the tray despite being careful with them. Also, I'm sick of forgetting CDs in rental cars and then buying them again, but that's a different issue.
As for games - I don't really care. Maybe every once in a while, or getting people to STFU with their "OMG YOUS DONT HAEV A GAME CONSOUL?!?! WE WANNA PLAY FAGGORT GAEMS!!1"
And the PC is not coming back as the platform of choice for gaming - that's why they built the xbox, and the xbox360, and whatever else they'll be coming up with. MS want to save the PC for shit like office, bing, and social networking faggotry.
I could probably deal with a noisy PC if all I wanted to do with it was typical HTPC stuff - hell, if I wanted to, I could mount it to the ceiling in the basement right below the TV, and just run a few cables, but since I'm building it, it might as well record audio - much of which will be done in the living room. So I need it to be quiet. I even unplug the fridge and if it's quiet pieces, the sump pump too.
