Core 2 was good in the two-core line. i7 was hit-and-miss with thermal control -- and overpriced. Yes, if you want ten more frames per second in Call of Medal of Heroes with your GPU resolution cranked way down, then by all means, go with Intel. If you want to save minutes on your video encoding (and I assume you're sitting there watching the whole time instead of doing something else like a sensible person), then Intel is the way to go. Just hope you don't get a bent heatsink spreader. I will admit that they did all right with the lower-end i-series, but bang for buck superiority goes to AMD.
