OMG Mac mini update
so, i brought it back to work now that i have an office. stuck it in a desk drawer and ran cables to it. after a few minutes, ive decided the mac mini is good for two things:
1) bluetooth is super easy, and i can connect my bluetooth earbuds to it and listen to music from online radio.
2) bootcamp and windows 7.
so I shrunk the OSX partition down to like 30GB, grabbed a windows 7 ultimate key from MSDN and tried to install.
no dice. some cd boot option message where you cant use your keyboard. I figured i downloaded a bad image and so tried another. same thing. looked it up, its aparently some firmware crap issue with older mac minis and newer OSs like vista and 7. not sure, i didnt read into detail cause i didnt care. so they have you rip the image files out and the boot image and change the disk burning settings. did that. no dice. then i continued reading and found one additional setting for windows 7 64bit. so after hours and hours, i got the damn disk burned and working.
install win7 ultimate, torrent the newest bootcamp drivers for win7 and install that. a slick little windows 7 computer. suddenly all sorts of usefullness is pouring out of this thing. BUT now its just a regular old comptuer like any other.
when i get moved to a new place, i'll stick it under the tv and use windows 7 media centers functionality. goddamn id be pissed if i had paid money for this thing. what are they, $600?
